2010 CALB Fours Knockout Competition

The CALB Mixed Fours Knockout Competition took place from the 2^nd to 5^th December.  By Sunday the semifinals and the final itself were played at Almeria LBC.  All three games were closely contested resulting in Shelagh Allen, Mary Mullen, Dave Allen and skip Tony Mullen of Almeria LBC Club  winning by 20/18 versus Verna Bimson, Dianne Reynolds, Peter Anderson and skip Austin Crilly of La Mata BC and in the other semifinal, Wendy Savage, Roy Savage, Kevin Riley and skip Frances Riley of Cabrera won by 18/16, versus Carol Kitchen, Valerie Parrott, Tony Cracknall and skip Harvey Parrott of Indalo BC.  As you will see we have each of the four local clubs represented in the semifinals which makes for good news.  And so to the afternoon, when the finalists kept the match close and interesting throughout right until the final end when Tony´s rink picked up three shots to win the competition by 18/15.  Well done all the players who made the day a memorable one.

 Almeria BC´s Captain and CALB´s representative Jim Pyke presented the trophy and the prizes and thanked all the competitors, helpers and spectators.

 We look forward to the 2011 CALB Fours League followed by Mens and Ladies Singles and Mens and Ladies Pairs
