2015 February Report

The CALB Fours League competition commenced in January and continued in February, when our local clubs played against each other over six games. Clubs were split into two groups, Red and Blue. This year our Red Group were successful in keeping their championship which they won last year 0oiwhen they were victors over Indalo Blue.

The Appleby Vase, Ladies Singles and Dyer Cup, Men’s Singles commenced on 29th January and ended 1st February. The winner of Appleby Vase was defending champion, Catherine Patrick over new bowler Christine Parkinson. In the Dyer Cup, Reg Birmingham was the victor over defending champion, John Fitzgerald.

The club pairs, Jackson Cup was won by Patsy Tonkin & Chris Parkinson. The Parsons Trophy was won Reg Birmingham & Tony Mullen

Ladies Charity Triples series of games continued against Cabrera, Indalo, Mojacar and ourselves. These games are thoroughly enjoyed by our ladies. Monies raised by selling raffle tickets for superb prizes to be presented at the annual ladies only dinner at Bellavista  Restaurant on Tuesday 10^th March.  A big thank you goes to Eileen Phoenix who works hard to keep these events going.  

This month were our regular visitors from the France, Perigord B.C thoroughly enjoyed themselves playing in the various club competitions and roll ups. We also had to two very pleasant days competing against them on the 10^th and 13^th of February. Results were not important.  

Finally please don’t forget full competition reports, photographs and schedules of all competitions will be found on our website, www.bowlingalmeria.com  Whilst writing I must add that if more members used our website there would be less disappointment for members unable to be around when the entry sheets are produced. Very often members who return to UK or holiday elsewhere and would have been available when the competition/s are held, could use the information on website. They then can inform me or John Fitzgerald  that they would like to be added to the entry list and be included in the competition schedule.
