2015 Opening of Zurgena Bowling Green
Hi All
Although I am in UK as most of you are aware I still ensure that I disseminate information about our club and any other happenings. Thanks to John Fitzgerald, Ruth Compton and Brian Saunders for giving me the latest news.
Bowlers from our local clubs attended Open Day of the new bowling green at Zurgena which was opened by Mayor Candidos . Currently the facilities are not totally completed and as to date a new club has not been created. The general opinion was, that there is a great potential for another well needed bowling club in the area to compete against in the various competitions.
Ruth Compton together with some of our local coaches were busy coaching thirty potential bowlers from 1100 to 1430. The coaches were instructing up to seven at one time compared with the normal two. John Fitzgerald organised the other clubs into eight end games. The verdict was that the green bowled well and felt good underfoot although a little slow.
The local council provided very welcomed food and refreshments. All in all a very enjoyable day had by all. Thanks to David Northway, Indalo, who took the photographs. And I am sure you will agree we look forward to the future when Zurgena Bowling Club is up and running.
