2010 December Club Report
This is the last monthly report report for 2010 written in UK by yours truly with thanks for the information provided by various members including Jim Pike and Sue Mannall. First of all a big thank you, from Joan and myself, during this trumatic month, for all the support sent by email, cards and telephone. Glad to say I am feeling human again and looking forward to getting back to Spain hopefully by the end of January.
We began with the new CALB Mixed 4’s knockout held at our club.from the 2nd until 5th December. The competition was well supported and on Sunday 5th, all four local clubs were represented in the semi-finals. The games were very competitive ending up with the Final featuring a team from Cabrera, consisting of two married couples, Wendy and Roy Savage, Francis and Kevin Riley, taking on our own married couples Mary and Tony Mullen with Shelagh and Dave Allen. It went to the last end when Tony’s 4’s scored three shots to become the worthy champions. This is very good for our club now winners of three of the six CALB competitions held since the inauguration early in the year. These were Jim Pike and Terry Rodgers winning the Men’s Pairs, ALBC winning the CALB 11’s and now the victors of CALB 4’s, Tony, Mary, Shelagh and Alan. Well done to everybody who took part.
The Palace Cup Handicap Singles should have commenced on Monday 29th November. However because of the heavens opening a couple of days before, it was impossible to use the green. Re-scheduled for the following Monday 6th and Friday 10th., this well supported competition produced an epec Final with the experienced Tony Mullen and newcomer Graham Clough. Tony was two shots ahead when Graham trailed the jack on his last end leaving Tony an impossible task. Well done Graham.
The new look AGM and Presentation of Prizes day commencing with the usual Thursday morning roll up, after this, the AGM, closely followed by the prize giving. By all accounts things went reasonably well, but considering this format was decided on to encourage the members who have to travel, the members attending were low. It would also have been nice to see more of the prize winners there to collect there photgraphs and cash. The same goes for the number supporting the Christmas Dance. I feel there will be a re-think on what happens next year.
Anyway welcome to the new members joining the ALBC committee namely Sue Mannall who is doing a great job with our fixtures.
Don’t forget members this report with associating photographs of the finalists will be found on our website www.bowlingalmeria.com
